What is the purpose of this website?
Alright! I'll start with some bit of history lesson. But it's mostly sad.
We all know that PSO2 Classic had a good run, it was NGS' turn to bring in the fun.
Well ... it didn't do well! The launch is bad. Netcode was terrible and content is lacking.
But to give a bigger picture from outside of the game, we have to look over the websites and platforms that covers this game.
Fan-sites like Rappy-Burst.com shutdown at the first few months the game launched, ouch, they did make a comeback for a limited time, but it was not good enough.
Certain users would buy a domains related to PSO2/NGS, only for it to expire, and I would end up buying one of those domains.
As time passes, platforms such as Reddit would have the occasional posts here or there. But it's going slower and slower.
What about wikis? As of now arks-visiphone website takes around a minute and 24 seconds! What's going on over there?! Not to mention that hardly anyone wants to contribute to the wiki, so once the new content drops like weapons and units, we are left in the dark until someone steps in!
The only news coverage website I go to is bumped.org, I can't find any other news websites that is all things that is PSO2/NGS (What is going on with pso-world.com?!). Watching YouTube videos on content creators telling you the news is a waste of time, right now there is two to just one active creator pumping out videos about this game!
Discord? Yes! It seems to be the only place to hangout now-a-days unless you prefer to be in your close circles via game consoles' platform (that's fine by the way.) However I cannot trust that search function to help me find everything, and once the server is down temporary or permanent, we can't do anything about it ...
And awhile screenshot culture is the norm, I see a polarizing difference between western verus Japanese players wanting to share their Character Data! Japanese players are okay with sharing to the point there is a whole website dedicated to uploading and downloading character data! But the western players are the opposite, they do not like to share at all. To the point we'll keep seeing those Reddit posts "What is that character wearing?" or "How did that player pull off that look with the accessories?!" That whole area is not looking great.
And the worst part of them all, you can already guess ... there is hardly any personal websites for this game.
I'm talkin' about personal websties that has image gallaries, fan-arts, fan-fics, tutorials, blogs, and anything! I would find a few using carrd and one using wix, and that's okay! Just anything at this point!
When I look at other videogames like Final Fantasy MMOs, there is sooo many fan-sites and personal sites around that. There is even a dedicated fashion website for that game! I'd love to see that for NGS!
You don't need to remind me what the player count is right now by posting the SteamCharts, I'm aware of that.
After playing this game for 4.5 years straight, I finally took a break, realized what I really like about the game, and focused on that aspect.
This website is my way to express myself and also a way to give back!
With that said though, I'll never be back on social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit! I mean heck! I'm not even on Discord anymore! Why should I support the algorithms and potentially help AI in robbing us?
Anyway here's hoping more people will find this website natually and organically, I haven't told my closest buds that I even have this website up, they'll have to find it! That's the whole point of "IndieWeb!" ^_^
